Gonadorelin

Also known as Factrel, Lutrepulse, GnRH

Gonadorelin is a synthetic decapeptide identical in sequence to endogenous gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It is used diagnostically to assess pituitary responsiveness and clinically to help maintain endogenous testicular function and fertility potential in men undergoing testosterone replacement or other gonadal-suppressive therapies. Because its action depends on pulsatile rather than continuous exposure, dosing frequency and pattern matter more than with many peptides. It is a prescription hormone product, not a general wellness supplement.

Reported benefits

  • Assesses pituitary-gonadal axis function diagnostically
  • Helps maintain testicular size and endogenous testosterone/sperm production during TRT
  • Supports fertility-preservation protocols in hypogonadal men
  • Used in pulsatile-pump therapy for hypogonadotropic hypogonadism

How it works

Gonadorelin binds GnRH receptors on anterior pituitary gonadotrope cells. Pulsatile exposure stimulates release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which in turn drive gonadal steroidogenesis and gametogenesis. Continuous, non-pulsatile exposure instead downregulates GnRH receptors and suppresses gonadotropin output, which is the basis for its diagnostic and, in other agents of this class, therapeutic-suppression uses.

Read before using

This tool produces a rough, educational estimate by scaling commonly-published research ranges to lean body mass. It is not a prescription, medical advice, or a substitute for a licensed clinician. Most peptides use fixed dosing, not weight-based dosing. Individual needs vary. You are solely responsible for how you use this information.

Common questions

What is Gonadorelin used for?

Gonadorelin is a synthetic decapeptide identical in sequence to endogenous gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It is used diagnostically to assess pituitary responsiveness and clinically to help maintain endogenous testicular function and fertility potential in men undergoing testosterone replacement or other gonadal-suppressive therapies. Because its action depends on pulsatile rather than continuous exposure, dosing frequency and pattern matter more than with many peptides. It is a prescription hormone product, not a general wellness supplement. Reported benefits include assesses pituitary-gonadal axis function diagnostically, helps maintain testicular size and endogenous testosterone/sperm production during trt, supports fertility-preservation protocols in hypogonadal men.

What is a typical Gonadorelin dose?

Reported ranges run 100-500 mcg. A low protocol is 100 mcg twice weekly, subcutaneous, and a high protocol is 500 mcg daily, as used in some pulsatile/diagnostic protocols. This is reference information, not a dosing recommendation.

What is the half life of Gonadorelin?

Approximately 10 to 40 minutes. That is what sets the dosing frequency, and it is why the timing guidance is as directed by your clinician.

How is Gonadorelin administered?

Subcutaneous: into fat, under the skin. May also be delivered intravenously via a pulsatile infusion pump in specialized fertility protocols.

How long is a Gonadorelin cycle?

Ongoing alongside testosterone replacement or other suppressive therapy, per prescriber on, followed by As directed if TRT or the suppressive agent is discontinued off.

What are the side effects of Gonadorelin?

Reported side effects include injection site reactions, headache, flushing, nausea, rare hypersensitivity reactions. Evidence level for this compound is well studied.
