Dulaglutide
Also known as Trulicity
Dulaglutide is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist in which a modified GLP-1 peptide is fused to a human immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) Fc fragment, extending its circulating half-life to about five days and allowing once-weekly dosing. It is approved for glycemic control in type 2 diabetes and has demonstrated a reduction in major adverse cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes who have or are at risk for cardiovascular disease. It is delivered via a prefilled, single-use autoinjector pen designed for patient self-administration. It is available only by prescription.
Reported benefits
- Improves HbA1c and fasting glucose control in type 2 diabetes
- Once-weekly dosing supports treatment adherence
- Demonstrated reduction in cardiovascular events in high-risk patients
- Associated with modest weight loss as a secondary effect
How it works
Dulaglutide activates GLP-1 receptors on pancreatic beta cells to enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release, lowering both fasting and post-meal glucose. It also slows gastric emptying and reduces appetite via central GLP-1 receptor signaling. The Fc-fusion design markedly slows renal clearance and proteolytic degradation compared to native GLP-1, enabling once-weekly dosing.

Read before using
This tool produces a rough, educational estimate by scaling commonly-published research ranges to lean body mass. It is not a prescription, medical advice, or a substitute for a licensed clinician. Most peptides use fixed dosing, not weight-based dosing. Individual needs vary. You are solely responsible for how you use this information.

Common questions
What is Dulaglutide used for?
Reported benefits include improves hba1c and fasting glucose control in type 2 diabetes, once-weekly dosing supports treatment adherence, demonstrated reduction in cardiovascular events in high-risk patients.
What is a typical Dulaglutide dose?
Reported ranges run 0.75-4.5 mg. A low protocol is 0.75 mg once weekly (starting dose), and a high protocol is 4.5 mg once weekly (maximum approved dose). This is reference information, not a dosing recommendation.
What is the half life of Dulaglutide?
Approximately 5 days, supporting once-weekly administration. That is what sets the dosing frequency, and it is why the timing guidance is weekly · same day, any time.
How is Dulaglutide administered?
Subcutaneous: into fat, under the skin. Subcutaneous injection once weekly via single-dose pen, independent of meal timing.
How long is a Dulaglutide cycle?
Continuous once-weekly injections for long-term diabetes management on, followed by Long-term maintenance therapy; not typically cycled off while clinically indicated off.
What are the side effects of Dulaglutide?
Reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, particularly early in treatment, risk of pancreatitis, boxed warning for thyroid c-cell tumors observed in rodent studies, possible acute kidney injury related to gastrointestinal fluid losses, injection site reactions. Evidence level for this compound is well studied.
