# Hexarelin

> Hexarelin is widely regarded as the most potent synthetic growth hormone releasing peptide of the GHRP class. Beyond GH stimulation, research has examined hexarelin for cardioprotective and anti-fibrotic effects that appear to occur independent of GH release, through binding sites in cardiac tissue. It has been studied in small human trials, including in heart failure populations, as well as extensively in animal models. Because of its potency, hexarelin is commonly associated with faster reported receptor desensitization than other GHRPs when used continuously.

- Also known as: Examorelin
- Primary category: Growth Hormone Peptides
- Effectiveness rank: #9 in Muscle & Performance; #4 in Growth Hormone Peptides
- Evidence level: Well studied
- Route: Subcutaneous (Injected subcutaneously; intranasal formulations have also been studied in research settings)
- Dose range: 50-200 mcg
- Dose tiers: low 50 mcg; moderate 100 mcg; high 200 mcg
- Half-life: ~70 min
- Timing: ~30 min before bed, empty stomach
- Cycle: 6-8 weeks on, 4-6 weeks off (Shorter cycles are commonly recommended given anecdotal reports of faster desensitization than other GHRPs)
- Storage: Store lyophilized powder refrigerated (2-8°C), protected from light. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within 2-4 weeks.

## Mechanism of action

Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide with high binding affinity for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), producing a larger acute GH pulse than most other GHRPs at comparable doses. Separately, research suggests hexarelin binds additional receptor sites in cardiac and vascular tissue, which is proposed to underlie its studied cardioprotective and anti-fibrotic effects independent of the GH axis.

## Reported benefits

- Strong acute GH release
- Cardioprotective effects reported in research
- Improved recovery
- Possible lean mass support

## Reported side effects

- Reported rapid receptor desensitization with prolonged use
- Cortisol/prolactin elevation
- Water retention
- Injection-site irritation
- Increased hunger

## Common protocols

- Hexarelin + CJC-1295 (short block)

## Stacking notes

Frequently limited to short blocks within a larger GHRH-based stack due to reported rapid desensitization with continuous use.
